In this workshop, you will learn that it’s not the eyes that see, but the brain.
Peter teaches that brain function can change, therefore eyesight and vision are flexible and can follow the changes of the brain. The Eyebody Method coordinates physical, emotional,mental and spiritual aspects of seeing. Glasses or surgery address the symptoms, not the causes of visual dysfunction.
Today, you will learn how to begin to replace these with:
visual and mental clarity;
strain free reading and computer use;
improved posture, coordination and well-being; and
increased attention and presence.
This interactive workshop explores the integration of vision, eyesight, posture, movement, relaxation, imagination and brain function. It can help you let go of the habit of wearing glasses or contact lenses. Central to the method is the understanding that eyesight and vision are flexible and can be changed.
Peter will explain how the Eyebody Method can be beneficial in addressing many vision problems such as: myopia (short-sighted), presbyopia (middle-age vision), hypermetropia (far-sighted), astigmatism, cataracts, floaters, squints, light-sensitivity, macula degeneration, and glaucoma.
Eyebody is not just for people with vision issues though, people with good eyesight can benefit greatly too. Positive effects of the day can include improvements in: posture, movement, neck and back pain, mental and emotional difficulties, well-being, asthma and fatigue, to name a few.
During the day Peter will share a few basic practices that we can take home and practice on our own, whatever our visual challenge. These will get you started on the path of retraining your vision, so that you can begin to undo the tensions and habits that have accumulated over the years in your visual system.
Six Day Eyebody Retreat with Peter Grunwald 18th – 24th September, 2026
Venue: The Vedanta, Lincolnshire, UK www.thevedanta.org Arrival and check in: 4pm, Friday 18th September Departure: 2pm, after lunch on Thursday 24th September
EYEBODY coordinates the brain and releases tensions in the eyes and the whole visual system, bringing clarity to the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual aspects of seeing. Through the EYEBODY patterns the body is reached in an indirect way which can have a positive effect on many conditions, such as neck, back and joint problems, asthma and general fatigue, benefiting overall health and co-ordination. EYEBODY enhances clear thinking, integrates all the senses (particularly hearing) and supports more effective processing of information. Clear sight is only one aspect of vision. Perceiving the world in more depth and letting go of over- and under-focussing promotes a deep sense of well-being that permeates all aspects of life. Very often physical, mental, emotional and life challenges can be transformed, the roots of which may have seemed elusive
Peter Grunwald
Having been a teacher of the Alexander Technique and the Bates Vision Improvement Method for some years, as well as letting go of his own -10.5 diopter glasses, Peter discovered the connections between the eyes and the body. These EYEBODY patterns describe how every part of the eyes, the visual pathway and the visual cortex is connected to a specific area of the body, in such way that particular visual symptoms correspond with specific tensions in the body.
Peter’s groundbreaking second book Eyebody – Soulful Seeing – Conscious Living, extends his earlier work covered in Eyebody – The Art of Integrating Eye, Brain and Body, to include the diversities of our emotional and spiritual nature. It introduces you to the art of integrating soul qualities through our eyes, brain and body to heal the emotional patterns and intergenerational aspects that can underlie our visual abnormalities, as well as our health and life challenges.
